The storyline

The sequel continues the main storyline that began in the first part. The main character Sonic has an evil copy of him in the form of Metal Sonic. He teamed up with Dr. Eggman to create a Death Egg and wrap it around a Small planet. If this happens, then all the inhabitants of the planet will turn into slaves of the doctor and Metal Sonic. The player needs to take control of the main character and, together with his comrade and reliable friend Tails, embark on a journey through the original worlds to fight the henchmen of the main villains and eventually try to prevent their insidious plans to take over the planet.

Gameplay

The gameplay is made in the format of a casual platformer in an arcade style. As in the previous parts, the player is waiting for a huge number of different levels, which will either have to run fast or roll. All levels are filled with numerous enemies, including huge bosses. Static and dynamic obstacles will also be encountered very often. If possible, it is necessary to deal with each enemy, but if it fails, then you can just run past.

While traveling through the levels, you need to collect gold rings. The more of them, the better, as they are necessary for the rating table. With each level, the difficulty will increase slightly. And here it is necessary to take into account that the main character does not have life points. That is, a collision with any of the obstacles or an opponent will be fatal for the main character. If the hero dies, then you will have to start the level from the beginning.

After successfully completing all the levels, a bonus world will open where you can play as Metal Sonic, trying to pass the most dangerous and difficult game zones for him. The game supports the controller.
