Gameplay

The gas pedal is stuck to the floor. There are no brakes. The car hurtles forward at insane speed, with nothing but steep hills and deep ravines ahead. Extreme Road Trip gives you no time to get comfortable. You simply pick up your phone, tilt the screen, and try to keep the speeding car balanced.

The main enemy in this race is an emptying fuel tank. The fuel gauge relentlessly moves toward zero. The only way to keep going longer is to perform aggressive stunts. Pull off a powerful flip in mid-air? You get a boost of nitro. Land perfectly on all four wheels? Get another burst of acceleration. The trick is that nitro uses absolutely no fuel. You have to keep taking risks to conserve gas. Jump as high as possible, spin like a top, and rack up distance on just the rear wheel. A mistake comes at a high price. The slightest tilt of the body sends the vehicle flying apart in a spectacular explosion.

The garage is packed with vehicles. The local roster includes nearly three dozen machines. There are lightweight motorcycles, nimble cars, and massive trucks. Each type of vehicle feels physically different. Used to effortlessly flipping a bike through the air? Get behind the wheel of a long-haul truck and learn to maintain your balance all over again. The tracks also keep things interesting. You start out on a relaxing sunny beach and finish your run on the slopes of a scorching volcano.

All this madness comes with a fantastic electronic soundtrack by Magnus Pålsson. The melodies get stuck in your head almost instantly. They set the pace perfectly and keep you hitting the restart button over and over again. The cult arcade game has been completely rebuilt for modern devices. The visuals run extremely smoothly, while the gyroscope instantly detects every tilt. Three cars are available for free from the start. The rest of the roster unlocks gradually or can be accessed immediately with a single pass.
