Navigator and Yandex.Maps will now display the users location much better. The company managed to achieve this through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules without GPS. According to the press service, this not only affects accuracy, but also reduces the impact of satellites.

Opinions on this innovation are divided. Some believe that by determining the signal strength from mobile towers, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signals, the application calculates where the user is.

The other part is not sure if its about measuring the strength of the signals. Their power may be affected by various obstacles that will distort the signals. Most likely, the system calculates data from known points located next to a person. This will be facilitated by Alice, which are installed in browsers, as well as living in portable speakers.

The innovation may be especially relevant for Moscow. Navigation satellites in the capital are malfunctioning, it was very noticeable in early May. Not only drivers had problems, but also taxi drivers, carsharing and kicksharing.

The company also launched a driverless taxi in test mode. It does not require a permanent Internet connection, and also does not use a satellite.
