Fans of classic beat 'em up have received a long-awaited rescue. The mobile version of TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, originally released by Netflix with regional restrictions and subscription requirements, has become available thanks to a separate release from Playdigious. On April 14, the game was released on iOS in a premium format with a free trial on the App Store. The Android release is expected on April 15, after the pre-registration period on Google Play.
Interestingly, the mobile version from Playdigious immediately includes the previously released paid add-ons "Dimension Shellshock" and "Radical Reptiles". This means that from the moment of purchase, players get access to new characters such as Usagi Yojimbo and additional game modes that significantly expand the main gameplay. It is noteworthy that the original arcade game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was released in 1989 and laid the foundations of the beat 'em up genre, and Shredder's Revenge is its spiritual heir, designed with love for retro style.
Another important fact is the support of Bluetooth controllers in the mobile version. This allows gamers to abandon touch controls and enjoy a more authentic gaming experience similar to the console versions of the game.
It is worth noting that Tribute Games Studio, the developer of the original Shredder's Revenge, is known for its attention to detail and careful treatment of classic game mechanics, which is reflected in the mobile adaptation of Playdigious.
Thus, Playdigious not only ported the game to mobile devices, but also provided a full-fledged edition with additional content and user-friendly controls, bypassing the limitations of the Netflix version. Now fans of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be able to fully enjoy the nostalgic action game on their smartphones and tablets.
