The American company Niantic is making major changes within its staff. They are going to cut down an entire division that is engaged in maintaining the life of some projects. Accordingly, these projects will also be closed. All this is done to focus on their main brainchild — Pokemon Go.
The division located in Los Angeles will be closed permanently, sending 230 personnel to the labor market. This number is equal to almost a quarter of the total number of employees in the company.
During the pandemic, Nantic increased its revenues several times, which led them to resort to increasing capacity. But against the background of current events, it was decided to resort to extreme measures. In addition, a project dedicated to basketball, which was released in early 2023 under the name NBA All-World and developed by Marvel World of Heroes, will also be closed.
And Pokemon GO celebrates its seventh birthday. The game, despite the large figure in the passport, still has a large fan base and remains relevant.
